OttIX 102 Bank Street POP shutdown March 25, 2006

An update for FLORA.ca customers about various network connectivity changes.

As you likely know we have been in the process of trying to replace
various connections that we have to the Internet. In the past we had 3
connections (4M to iStop, 4M to OttIX with packets routed via Cyberus,
and a 1M connection with Storm).

iStop closed in June 2005, bringing us down to two connections.

We have had various attempts to upgrade the Storm connection, but due
to the distance to their 350 Sparks Street location we have not been
able to increase the speed so far.

In January of this year we were informed that Cyberus (currently
owned by CyberSurf) was being moved out of their 102 Bank St location.
OttIX was co-located at this location, meaning that all equipment needed
to move.

We tried to bring out OttIX connection to an alternative OttIX site
at 264 Bank St, but problems with Rogers (who owns the building) which
we only found out about this month has made this impractical. We have
now ordered lines into the 71 Bank St. location of CyberSurf with the
hopes of making a connection there.

We now have a potential timing issue. We don't know if our line to
71 Bank St. will be ready for us to use before the current equipment at
102 Bank St. must be moved. It all comes down to whether our new wire
to Cybersurf comes in this week.

If the line doesn't come in, we will temporarily be down to a single
1M SDSL (The Storm connection) to CooperIX.

We apologize for any inconvenience this will cause. We are doing
everything we can to increase the speed of our connection.

Please be advised that Cyberus has notified us that the room
containing their equipment as well as OttIX's, must be cleared out on
March 25, 2006, between the hours of noon and 3PM. Any member that
still has equipment in OttIX is advised to pick it up then, or make
further arrangements with Cyberus.
