Software not only work under copyright, but used to communicate other works electronically
Issue is extension of copyright from instances of software (expression of a work) to classes of compatible software through interface copyright
Information and communications technology needs to be in the hands of the user/owner, not remote control by third party (copyright holders).
Many submissions were sent in from our group to the copyright reform process. This process was quite extensive involving the departments (Heritage Canada and Industry Canada) sending out papers, the public responded, we could respond to the responses, and then a few months later there was face-to-face regional meetings.
